Really Good Shit....

This is what I've been loving:

1.  Mascara

Star Hypnose by Lancome- simply the best.  It makes my already long lashes longer and fuller.  It's beautiful black and lasts all day.  Expensive but bomb!

Cover Girl Flamed Out.  I admit I tried this because Pink is the spokesperson but wow! Can't beat this for drugstore makeup. It has almost the same effect on my lashes at half the price!  

I use both of them depending on my mood!

2.  Sun protection:

Cerave Spray on sunscreen.  SO easy to spray on!  It's dries dry, meaning it's not sticky and runny.  Great protection, great coverage.  Did I tell you how easy this is to apply?!

And my sweet friend Jessi gave me this great reccemendation and she knows her shit:

This is the best self tanner EVER!  I am a natural redhead, fair complected with skin so white it's nearly blue.  This makes my skin look tan, not orange.  And easy to apply for anyone:  it's a foam that you buff on with a glove.  Bomb!  Jessi does a great Youtube review right here:

3.  Clothing

I tend to wear sundresses and skirts in the summer- I'm not a shorts kind of girl.

Can't beat this bargain from Target at only $24.95!

The Xhilaration Line for Juniors.  EVERYONE looks good in this dress and it keeps you nice and cool.

Havianna flip flops.  Feel good.  Look good.  Isn't that what summer is all about?

4.  New products I can't live without:

to get rid of odors in your house, it kils bacteria and it smells so freaking good! It's a mix of essential oils; clove, cinamom bark, rosemary, lemon and eucalyptus.  And it's a great household cleaner (but don't tell anyone I clean....).  Get. This. Product. There is a pocket size spray for $11.84 for a one ounce bottle- it goes a long way!

Another Thieves product that works miricales:

Yes, simple old Lavender.  We all know it smells good.  Put a few drops in a spray bottle with water to freshen up towels and sheets.  I spray it on my pillow before bed to create a restful feeling.  Since I have an awful time sleeping, I rub a few drops on the bottom of my feet before bed.  If I wake up during the night, I just take off the top, take a few sniffs and I'm back in Lala land. But, IT HAS OTHER USES!!  The other day I started getting a really painful skin tag (Ick. I know, WTF, right?)  So, I grabbed my handy essential lavender and applied a drop directly to the area.  I applied another drop before bed- when I woke up the next morning, the area was no longer inflamed and the SKIN TAG IS GONE!!  Gotta love that. It has so many uses.  Check out this video:

Where Have I been the Last 3 Years?

Powerful stuff.

The last 3-4 years have been a living nightmare for me.

Let me back up. In August of 2008, my eldest son was acccepted to University Of Arizona before he even started his Senior year in high school.  He's a smart kid .  He also played lacrosse all 4 years of high school.

The first semester of his high school senior year he tried pain pills.

Just over 1 year later, after (barely) completeing his freshman year of college he became a heroin IV user.  My beautiful boy. A HEROIN ADDICT.

Wait!!  This doesn't happen to "people like us"!  Parents that love each other and our 2 boys.  Well educated parents, excellent income and a nice home. But it did happen and this has been my life for the last 3+ years. That's why you haven't seen me of heard from me for so long.  I did fall off the-face of the earth. Many of you know this, since I never kept it a secret. BUT I AM NOT ALONE!!

The pain of loving an addict is so horrible.  I watch my son die everyday.  My hubby and I have put him through more rehab programs then I can count, but ultimately he has to choose to fight his addiction.

Even if he's sober, we are fucked for life. This disease never goes away, if just gets mannaged.

I can't believe this is my life.  My family's life.  How did we get here?

Let's talk.  Become aware that this can happen to any one of us. Let's not make addiction our "dirty little secret". There is no cure for addiction- it never goes away- it will always be bubbling under the surface of our lives- we will always be worried that the other shoe may drop.  But most important, WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Today my son is sober and in jail. 

Is this really my life?

Yes indeed.

Welcome Twenty-Thirteen!

Goodbye to 2012.

 It was a very difficult year full of change, sadness and loss.  But also a year of blessings and lessons learned.  So rather than look back with grief, I will embrace those lessons and move forward with love, hope and generosity.

I've got a new attitude!

And while I like Facebook, I'm going to blog more.  Because I love you and I need you.  And I've missed you so much!  Your love and kindness and comments make me feel connected.    Thank you.

And the year has started off great!

As you may know, my employer asked me to shut down my blog while I worked for them.  I understood, I was promoting other company's products.  So, I removed all advertising and won't mention their name.
