And there was a lot happening!!
It started for me on Thursday night when I went to this dear friend's house for an End of Summer Soiree!
Food, Sangria, wonderful women and a movie. And a very handsome husband to run the projector!
Everything was so pretty from the food:
To Jeanne's lovely yard with a gigantic screen set up:
The lovely evening lighting....
And the perfect girls night out movie....
This was my first time seeing this fabulous movie! I was so amazed at all the crazy drinking and smoking, that the next morning I found myself doing this...
Actually, it's just a candy cigarette! Wow have times changed! I love Holly Golightly because she was a woman ahead of the times and such a free thinker and wild spirit!
The next night of this beautiful holiday weekend was attending Denver Art District's First Friday. What a wonderful, colorful part of town!! My friend Claudia Roulier has a studio on Santa Fe in the arts district. Since I love her and her art it was the first place we we stopped. Check out her blog and you can see the pig and the bear painting she was working on!
But before the studios opened their door, we had to eat and we went here:
It was fabulous and fun!! Very retro, right down to the powder orax in the bathrooms!
When you sit down:
Bottle with water, mason jar to drink from, crayons, kitschy menu....
And then drinks...
Mine was called "Scenic Route" and Al had Huckleberry lemonade, with, yes, huckleberry vodka! I can't remember what was in mine but it was yummy.
And where can you eat out and get these?
It was at this time my iPhone ran out of juice, so I have no more photos. We are going back there tonight to celebrate my son Alex's 20th birthday, so I'll have more!
Saturday morning was the "Paris Street Market" which is a huge flea market in Littleton. It runs once a month through the summer, and let me tell you, it ROCKS!!
I took Al and we picked up a few things:
These 2 vintage suitcases that we are using as an end table...
This old window....
One of the odd things in out new home, is a wall cut out in the Master Bedroom. Apparently, all these particular models have it. We think it's weird, but, you gotta work with what you have. So, we found this old window and screwed it down! I'm loving it, but we still need more privacy....
Not shown is a big old door that we are going to strip and a huge vintage tin letter "L", about 18" tall. I'll post them when finish that vignette.
Sunday took us to "A Taste of Colorado"- a downtown festival. There was food, drink, carnival games, arts & crafts and it was PACKED:
We drank beer and Sangria, ate big ears of roasted corn, enjoyed chocolate drizzled fruit kabobs and did a lot of walking around!
Monday was a day of rest and recovery.
Here is some sweetness to end this post:
