This gorgeous ornament arrived today as a delightful surprise from my darling sweet friend Mel, aka Little Melfie. I can't even begin to tell you how much I will treasure this keepsake. I'll probably hang in in my studio year round!
I haven't done any creating. My time has been spent like most....shopping, wrapping, school parties, baking....
Here are a few peaks into my home at Christmas:
From the top, left to right: the foyer; fabulous clowns by Nicole Sayre and my fabulous plaque by my sweet new friend, Jenny; the shadow box I made with Becky Novak at Silver Bella and glass glitter dove I got at 50% from Pottery Barn after Christmas last year; entry hall table with my Santa's; top of bookcase with another homemade shadowbox I made with Carolyn Peeler at Silver Bella and German Smoker's that my hubby has collected for me (they are all over the house); a close up of my Christmas plaque....I adore everything Jenny and Aaron make...I have the house ornaments on my studio tree...the glass glitter stars are from Pottery Barn this year; Our 12" high Christmas tree in the family room; huge ornaments on the dining room chandelier; this pillar in my foyer has a JOY banner I made that was inspired by my Silver Bella muses; my studio tree which holds all my artsy ornaments; a beautiful vintage ornament I bought from the super talented Tracie Lyn of The Red Door; ornament from one of my dear Silver Bella girlfriend Cari's etsy shop. And finally, a look into my life. Alex took this photo in the family room looking into the kitchen and breakfast nook. That's Lois snuggled up in the pillows, and me in the goofy hat.
Enough about me!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you!
I finally received my gratis copy of the Artist Trading Card Workshop book written by my darling friend Bernie Berlin! Thank you for asking me to be a contributor to this beautifully designed and brilliant book! I'm so proud to have some of my work featured with so many admired and talented artists, several of whom are my friends!
My back got so bad I was in bed, in pain, for two days. I missed the school boutique and now have a bunch of stuff to sell and no where to sell it. My friend Cari and I are doing a trade so a few of those cabinet cards will be heading her way. My back: the MRI shows a bulging disc with free-floating fragments. Nothing a little cortisone, Flexeril and Vicoden can't help.
It's sunny and seventy in Phoenix!
1. I like ice in my milk.
2. I'm so afraid of heights (as in open air) that I can't even climb a ladder.
3. I grew up eating pickled herring and smoked eel.
4. I let my dogs kiss me on the lips.
5. One of my toenails looks like a parrot's beak.
6. I laugh at all my husband's silly jokes....every time.
Every year I agree to do a little table at the school winter "boutique". Every year I stress because I don't have anything made. So, nothing else will get done until I get through Saturday. It's especially difficult because my back is still bugging me and I can't sit for long periods of time. Today I managed to create a few things that need solder and I made some Christmas cabinet cards.
I'm going to put some ribbon on them for hanging. I'm thinking of selling them for $15.00 at the Christmas boutique....do you think that's OK?
I am back from a busy weekend, helping with a golf invitational to raise funds for autism research (over $300,00 was raised) and the most amazing, artistic, inspiring day in Prescott with my darling friend Rebecca. I adore this woman...she is so soulful and insightful and happy. This is what I made:
For some reason. my camera is not working right for me and the image isn't as crisp as it should be. This piece is about 4" x 6" base to peak. Rebecca taught me how to solder (I still need a lot of practice). More important, she explained where to go to find the art. I used one of my favorite images of my mom as a child. You will know Rebecca much better when she develops her blog and web site. She is such a wonderful teacher....so thoughtful and generous with her treasure and talent. I have a few other items I'm working on but I am slowed down because of a terrible backache I have. This weekend is the holiday boutique at Nick's school and I have to lkick into high gear t to be sure I have something to sell. I am also working on 2 swaps that I would like to get in the mail before Christmas! Back to work...
